I can’t tell you how many television season finales I’ve watched on my digital video recorder where, just at the crucial moment, the recording stops.
Last night was one of those times.
Just as Ryan Seacrest read the American Idol results, “And the winner is, with 12 million more votes,” our digital recorder stopped.
Imagine my surprise when after skimming through two hours of commercials, and a few of the performances I didn’t care to watch, I didn’t even get to see the end of the show.
And that’s why the Internet is so great. I was able to view clips of the end of the show online.
Still, we can send humans into outer space. Why can’t someone make a digital video recorder that’s smart enough to record to the end of a specific program?
