Why I unsubscribed from most email newsletters
Posted in Commentary on June 29, 2010
I value information from others and try each day to consume content from media outlets and people I respect.
However, I have simply fallen behind in keeping up with hundreds of emails I receive each day.
The email newsletters I receive are crowding out important messages from clients, prospects and others.
So, I have determined to clear out my email inbox by unsubscribing from a multitude of messages.
I’ll be turning more and more to my RSS reader and Google Search to locate valuable information.
Have any of you taken a similar approach to your email inbox? Have you found the number of emails you receive unwieldy, especially after being out of the office for a few days or weeks?
I have, and now I’ve taken steps to reclaim my inbox.

Definitely understand about the email problem. That's why we started easyUnsubscriber.com – There are also some other great sites out there that help you unsubscribe like OtherInbox and Unsubscribe.com
To be honest, I’ve actually subscribed to more newsletters recently! It’s definitely challenging at times to keep up with all of them, but I try to do the best I can with it. No easy task, though.

Just thought I’d share an update to this post. It has nearly been a month since I began unsubscribing to email newsletters and I still spend 5-10 minutes every day unsubscribing. It’s not an easy process.
Hi Pete,
Yes I have taken a similar approach. I now filter most of them to a label called “To Read’ I then have nested labels and I find my self not reading them and just deleting them.
A reader is my where I go most of the time now.
