Why I think Oprah chose our next president

Back when Oprah Winfrey endorsed Barack Obama and held all those crazy rallies with him in sold-out stadiums, my politically themed question to everyone was, “Do you think Oprah just picked the next president?”
Most people were unsure, or at least uncomfortable with the daytime TV celebrity’s status as a political powerhouse. After all, it was the first time she had ventured into the political arena.
In my mind, Oprah, a woman, supported her heritage and not her gender. I know many women who were disappointed, to say the least, that Oprah denied Hillary Clinton her endorsement.
In my mind, Oprah did the right thing, and at the right time.
I think her early endorsement of Senator Obama tipped the scales enough to give him the lead in the delegate count, and ultimately secure the nomination.
I’m amazed by the empire built by Oprah Winfrey. I’m surprised by her influence among Americans.
I suppose in another decade or so we’ll see if we’re better off because of Ms. Winfrey’s choice for president.
