Use KnowEm to claim your brand on the Web

KnowEmI’m all about streamlining the work you do in social media. So when I’m introduced to tools that help you be more efficient, I’m happy to share them with blog readers.

Yesterday I attended PodCampSLC, a great annual event in Salt Lake City where podcasters gather to share tips and best practices. You can check out my notes on my Twitter feed from the conference, and you can listen to my podcast at or on iTunes.

During the conference Delta airlines pilot and podcaster Robin Maiden spoke about social media for personal branding. He talked about the importance of securing your name, whether it’s your company name, product brand or personal name, on the various social media sites.

The tool KnowEm was recommended. For a fee it automates the registration of your name on more than 350 social sites. I wonder how much time it would take for an individual to register on that many sites? I don’t know about you, but I don’t really want to find out.

Services like KnowEm are great to help us professional communicators accomplish more without spending even more time online.

Do you have other recommendations for registering your brand on social media sites?

  1. That’s a lot of social websites, which makes KnowEm undoubtedly useful. But worth $100 minimum? I don’t think that’s a reasonable price for such a simple service even a bot could do.

  2. Great to meet you at Podcamp SLC.

I was glad to learn of this tool, as well. When people have more time than money, they can use Knowem for free, but do all the work themselves.
